Washington, DC, June 1, 2017 — Landscape Architecture Bureau LLC’s [LAB] project for The Wharf’s Waterfront Park was officially unveiled to the public in a ceremony that included its formal dedication to Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, who was present to deliver remarks. Hoffman-Madison Waterfront, the partnership leading The Wharf redevelopment project, dedicated the park to recognize Norton for her work in passing her legislation, the Southwest Waterfront Redevelopment Act, which was signed into law in 2012, allowing the development of The Wharf to proceed.
LAB is the Architect of Record for this project with an entire range of facilities for an urban park situated on nearly four acres. They include: areas for seating and free-play; bocce courts; seating both shady and sunny; a large fountain; large glass and vine roofed pavilion; plaza to host neighborhood events; and extensive plantings.
