LAB Principal Jonathan Fitch, ASLA, and LABite Tim Bragan authored an article entitled “Outdoor Amenity Spaces: Complex, Hybridized, High Value Landscapes” that was included in the exclusive guide for NAIOP Northern Virginia’s annual bus tour.
This year’s tour focused on commercial properties within the Beltway and included the Ballston corridor in Arlington, VA. The LAB article addresses emerging trends related to landscape architecture, especially in regards to landscapes that are “on structure.”
Showcased in the article are LAB’s projects for the Ballston Quarter Complex redevelopment. Currently under construction, the Ballston Quarter Residential Tower is the result of a design partnership of LAB and CallisonRTKL along with owner/developer Forest City Washington. The other project is Ballston Quarter Macy’s Office Building for which its design includes a series of stepped outdoor amenity terraces. For that project, LAB has partnered with Gensler and owner/developer Buch Construction.
